Grade 4 News - January 14th

Children's Illustrators to visit in February! Visit www.JeanetteandChristopherCanyon.com for more information, and watch for details. The email you received from the office on Monday Jan. 10th included information on how to purchase books if you are interested.

Dress Down Day - Next Friday, January 21st for those without HW slips the second half of the quarter.
It's also the end of the quarter. And speaking of quarters, don't forget to bring yours! 5th grade is hosting a Bake Sale too!

Congrats to our 4th Grade Spelling Bee participants and alternates! It was a stressful day for you, and we are very proud of your hard work!

Math News - We are moving into division and long division. Keep practicing those basic facts! Multiplication tests should be in today's Friday Folder.

Language Arts News - We have started our Literature Circle work with Frindle and are working hard to finish our class book, "Christmas Is.." Next week Parent forms will be sent home if you'd like to order yourself a hardbound copy of the class book. I need signed parent forms from all students, even if you choose not to purchase a copy. The company will be mailing us back a published copy which we will be donating to JOIN. For security reasons, no student photos or names are included in the book.

Next week we also begin writing our individual stories for publishing! Students should make sure they have notecards with them in their binders. We'll be using the notecards to help organize our writing ideas. If you'd like to see what this project is all about, visit http://www.studentpublishing.com/ to see samples.

Enjoy the long weekend!
Laurie Smith
