Student Conferences- tonight and tomorrow! See you there!
Parents, please plan to spend 30 minutes with your child looking through their portfolios, reviewing their behavior checklist, study skills checklist, written reflections, and help your child set some goals for the remainder of the year. The teachers will be there to meet and greet and see what questions you may have. At the close of your conference, you will be asked to turn in your Parent Questionnaire and your Student Goals Worksheet. There will also be a sign-in sheet so we can keep track of who has arrived.
We hope you'll find this student conference experience valuable and rewarding. We've worked very hard to prepare the portfolios for your viewing.
Valentine Parties - Monday at 2:00 p.m.
Students will need to bring a box or bag to collect their Valentines on Monday. Students should also bring one valentine for each student in their Homeroom class. Miss Lang has agreed that students may dress in red or pink for the day!

Have you been there? Have you seen your child's log-in paperwork? We are continuing to put the finishing details on our writing so we can work on creating our online books. Paperwork will be sent home next week with ordering details if you'd like to purchase a copy. Prices range from $6.95 - $15.95 depending on the cover you choose. Once again, I need signed paperwork from every child before we can place an order.
News from the Music Room:
Bring your recorder to class on Wednesday if you did not place an order. We will be using them every Wednesday and Friday. Keep them in your bookbag so you will have it with you at school. Those who ordered will receive theirs in class on Weds. Thanks!

Grade 4 News - February 4th
Student Conferences are next week! What can you expect?
On February 10th or 11th you will be guests at your child's portfolio conference. When you arrive, you will come to the cafeteria. Your child will find a place for your conference and invite you to be seated. Then he or she will gather the portfolios for each core course: Religion, Math, Language Arts, Social Studies, Science/Health.
During the time of your conference, your child will share these portfolios with you, along with a self-assessment of study skills and a self-assessment of behavior. Your child will discuss strengths in each curricular area as well as the areas that need improvement. You can review projects and assessments in the portfolio. Feel free to ask questions, but let your child lead the process as much as possible. Your child will also share with you the goals he or she has set for the remainder of the school year.
Teachers will be circulating among the tables in the cafeteria, so if you have a question for a particular teacher, you will have the opportunity to speak with that teacher. You may stay as long as you wish to cover the material in the portfolios.
Finally, you will be asked to complete a Parent Response to the conference - a few questions that require only brief answers. You may also indicate on this sheet if you think a follow-up conference with a particular teacher is needed.
We look forward to seeing you there! - Mrs. Smith, Mr. Rendon, & Mrs. Lewis
